Business production has been subjected to a tremendous amount of growth in the past few decades, allowing for a larger scale of products to be manufactured faster than ever before. However, the practice of mass production is not a sustainable one, which more businesses are becoming increasingly aware of every day.

 

According to research, 62% of executives consider a sustainability strategy necessary to be competitive today, and another 22% think it will be in the future. This indicates that businesses are starting to recognise the importance of adopting a sustainable business strategy, in order to create operational longevity and partake in positive contributions to the environment.

 

These changes are not only positive for the environment itself, but positive for businesses themselves in creating the successful results they want: “sustainable businesses are redefining the corporate ecosystem by designing models that create value for all stakeholders, including employees, shareholders, supply chains, civil society, and the planet.” Habits such as reducing their waste output and carbon footprint, optimising product shelf-life and incorporating a strong reuse/recycling process into their manufacturing all contribute to improving social responsibility image and to business target – a sustainable business is therefore much better equipped to handle any difficulties that present themselves.
